the book post
got up la-ate again... hmm cos i slept late whilst reading this extreemely interesting and thought-provoking book by germaine greer: the whole woman. she was the same woman behind the launch of the female eunuch which galvanized the woman's liberation movement.. this taken out frm intdry overview of the book
The Whole Woman reveals how women have been sideswiped and sidetracked in the quest for liberation, duped into settling for an ersatz quality.
altho women have come a long way in the past three decades, innumerable forms of insidious discrimination and exploitation persist in every area of life --- from the care of the body to the care of the household, from the workplace to the marketplace.
the oft-repeated claim that '"women have it all" is merely a pacifying illusion
The Whole Woman is a shattering critique of the complacency and denial that have replaced feminist determination and militancy, and a society that has done little to maintain its momentum for change.
It is also a call to arms-- forceful and impossible to ignore.
what the hell? u may be wondering.. but its so true. so many discrimitory actions gone unnoticed..
women always expected to be the homemaker, a stay-at-home-mum who juggles the kids, groceries, expenses blahh..
many men still want women to be subservient obedient to comply
there are sick bastards who dont allow their wives to work cos they wnna beee in controll.. cos "I AM MAN"
those insecure selfish brats
they feel they must exert authority over someone
okay.. just finished surfing and out of that mode. cant continue.. till next time!
