hillary for president

hillary for president

i watched this current affairs program this morning and am really impressed by hillary clinton. she managed to move from the traditionally passive position of first lady of the united states of america to the empowering one of a senator.

she's strong, smart, and is the new embodiment of the american woman (and women everywhere else). she mentioned that although society is progressing and shit, there is still a double standard for many women.

eeew.whats she doing on telly? she's so fat and ugly.
i totally agree with what she says because women are expected to look good if they want to hold a powerful position, many atimes woman leaders in high powered positions are criticised for their presumably less-than-ordinary looks and are scrutinised physically from head to toe about issues ranging from the way they wear their hair, to wheter the different coloured suits they adorn are in the latest style or fashion. seriously, who would care if bill clinton had a pot belly and that george bush looks like a mal-nourished pixie? or in sporean context, would u bother if goh chok tong had excess nostril hair sticking out or that his eyebags replaced his eyes?

people simply refuse to believe females are capable of doing a good job in a traditionally male dominated areas such as politics. so they delibrately focus on everything else but their ability. hah. the irony of it all.

out of the 100-odd senators currently in the US, a whopping 86 are male. all countries are being run with a majority male perspective and there is no doubt which sex will benefit more from this.

name me women leaders if u can remember
margaret tatcher(sorry but her name is kinda hard to spell) and queen elizabeth are the only two other women i can think of who have led the country in some way... and theres this other new zealand lady who holds some high position.. society is changing, and more women are stepping out. but its not enough for females to step out now. they must step UP.

if we don't, we cant blame anyone else but ourselves, because we want to believe the bullshit sold to us by society's men, that women are incapable of success in areas outside the domestic sphere, in areas of engineering, politics, the government, and high-powered positions in large coporations (CEOs).

"women have too much talent" says hillary clinton.

to me, too much talent to be by-passed, too much talent to just stand behind and by their husbands and spur them on to their success, for their personal male glory. "behind every successful man, there is a woman"--soon this crapload of a phrase will change very soon, because when women begin to step out and succeed using their immensely talented abilities, there certainly wont be enough women left who would willingly stand behind their men.

and if that infamous phrase was true, it would be very difficult for men to succeed ever again.
